MitoSOXTM is a fluorescent dye design to target mitochondria in live cells for the detection of anion superoxide (O2-Β°). The oxidation of the compund by O2-Β° is easily detected in the red spectrum, being selective for O2-Β° but not for other Reactive oxygen species or Reactive nitrogen species.

β€’ Readily oxidized by superoxide but not by other ROS- or RNS-generating systems β€’ Absorption/emission maxima: ~510/580 nm β€’ Use for live cell imaging β€’ Rapidly and selectively targeted to the mitochondria
