  • Wood S, Weber R, eds (1991) Strategies of Physiological Adaptation. Proceedings of the Kjell Johansen Memorial Symposium, Munksgard.

Kjell Johansen had the degree Gand. Real, from Oslo, Norway. He has worked with many kinds of vertebrates and higher invertebrates. He was concerned with physiological phylogeny, and comparative cardiovascular physiology. He was at the University of Oslo, Institute for Experimental Medical Research, and moved to the University of Aarhus (adopted from http://archive.org/stream/comparativephysi01hann/comparativephysi01hann_djvu.txt).

  • Taylor CR, Johansen K, Bolis L (1982) A Companion to Animal Physiology. Cambridge Univ Press: 384 pp. - Originally published in 1982, this book was designed to supplement Knut Schmidt-Nielsen's Animal Physiology. Using Schmidt-Nielsen's comparative approach to the study of animal form and function, the text pursues in greater detail topics introduced in Animal Physiology. Like the textbook, the Companion is organised according to major environmental features: oxygen, food and energy, temperature, and water, concluding with a section on movement and structure. The papers brought together in this volume were presented in July 1980 to honour Schmidt-Nielsen's sixty-fifth birthday, at the Fifth International Conference on Comparative Physiology, held in Sandbjerg, Denmark.
