Coupling-control state

Description

Coupling states are defined in mitochondrial preparations (isolated mitochondria, permeabilized cells, permeabilized tissues, homogenates) as LEAK, OXPHOS, or ETS states of respiration, and in intact cells as LEAK, ROUTINE, or ETS states of respiration. These coupling states are induced by application of specific inhibitors of the phosphorylation system and titration of ADP.
