- The Hoppel Prize was inaugurated to honor Dr. Hoppel’s service to the School of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University, and his outstanding career in mitochondrial biology as a researcher, educator and mentor. Previous winners include Drs. John Lemasters, Michael Duchen, Douglas Wallace, David Nicholls, and Vamsi Mootha.
